- There were 331 registration districts in the island on the 31st of December, 1955
- For the year 1955, 229 Registrars were local Postmistresses and 19 Postal agents. The rest (83) were private individuals
- There were in the island at the 31st December, 1955, 587 duly appointed Marriage Officers (representing over 70 different religious denominations operating in this Colony) and 14 Civil Registrars of Marriages
- The total number of registrations effected during 1953 was as follows:-
