- Acting Registrar General J. M. Sudu
- There were 326 registration districts in the island on the December 31, 1954. Of these, Registrars 220 were Postmistresses in charge of the local Post Offices and 17 were Postal Agents.
- During the year, 6 new registration districts were established: - 1 each in the parishes of St. Andrew, Portland, Manchester, Clarendon and 2 in St. Mary.
- At the 31 December 1954 there were 581 duly appointed marriage Officers (representing 72 different religious denominations operating in this Colony) and 14 Civil Registrars of Marriages. The denomination with the highest number of Marriage Officers was the Anglican with 76, followed by the Baptist with 62 and the Roman Catholic with 53.
- The total number of registrations effected during the 1954 was as follows:-
