Verification is conducted to validate and or check the authenticity of the Agenciesy’s record certificates as provided to a third party outside of the RGD.  This process is carried out to , where we ratify concernsvalidate entries on the records of  relating to Births, Deaths orand Marriages.

There are two kinds of Verifications
1.     Institutional and
2.     Personal.

1.     An Institutional Verification is where institutions request that a certificate be compared with the records of RGD and a confirmation is provided that the record is authentic or otherwise.

2.     A Personal Verification is where an individual, usually the owner of the registration record, wants to verify information on a certificate for their own personal use – such as in response to the request from an Embassy or High Commission or for an educational institution.

A2. An Institutional Verification is where institutions write to us requesting verification of a record. The response is prepared and returned to the institution or picked up by authorized personal.   

Be advised also that all verifications should be accompanied by a hard copy original of the document to be verified.

If applying on behalf of someone else a letter of permission along with valid identification is required.  , iIndividuals or third parties requesting same, need to also attach a copy of their ID.  If a legal arrangement has been made for representation then the evidence provided to substantiate this, will usually be accepted.

In cases where a Late Registration or Re-Registration was done, and the record which now exists is new, then  reference must be made to thate current birth entry number and date of registration of the latest event.

he cost of applying for verification is as published in the Jamaica Gazette in relation to a search and is subject to change at any time. 
The cost for this service is -$2100 (one copy)
